Weronika lives in Poland. Véronique lives in Paris. Although they do not know each other, by a strange coincidence they are identical. Not just in their appearance, their entire lives seem strangely intertwined – through a mysterious, emotional bond that binds the two together across languages and geographical boundaries. Kieslowski was awarded both the FIPRESCI Prize and the Ecumenical Prize at Cannes, where the film was even nominated for the Palme d'Or. Irène Jacob received an award for her dual leading role. Veronika's double life is as memorable for Slawomir Idziak's stylized images and Zbigniew Preisner's stunning soundtrack as it is for the captivating drama.
