What is a hygrometer?
Just as a thermometer indicates the temperature, a hygrometer measures relative humidity. You can measure the humidity in each room separately. The hygrometer enables you to find out whether there is too much or too little moisture in the air and if so, to what extent. A hygrometer indicates the relative humidity in a percentage. A value of anything between 40 and 60 percent is ideal.
What is relative humidity?
Relative humidity is the ratio between the water vapours in the air and the maximum amount of moisture the air can contain at a given temperature. If the air is completely saturated with water vapours at a certain ambient temperature, the relative humidity is 100%. If the amount of moisture in the air then increases, it starts to condense.

To achieve a healthy level of humidity, it's crucial to measure the humidity in various rooms. Depending on the values, you may want to heat or ventilate the room to get or maintain the value within the range of 40-60% humidity.
