Carson Phillips (John Travolta) is a former football star who now works as a private investigator. He has a particular weakness for cases involving women in distress. As so many times before, Phillips begins investigating a case where a woman has disappeared, but the case slowly turns out to be a complex web of crimes, suspects and victims. When the daughter he hasn't seen in years suddenly turns out to be the prime suspect, he fights against time to save her, solve the murders and uncover the city's dirty secrets.
