12-year-old Zain lives in the slums of Beirut. We meet him in the courtroom where he has sued his parents. Accused? That they have born him into a purposeless and miserable world! With the trial as a framework, we get the story of Zain and the people and experiences that have shaped him. Here is a landmark film, which is not afraid to take the root of the needle and go straight to the meat of global inequality and the poor conditions of children in large parts of the world. At the same time, it is the story of a unique boy, who gives us faith that children can show the way to a better future, if they only have a sliver of Zain's empathy and willpower.
