Call the Midwife
The BBC drama Call the Midwife tells the touching and true story of a group of midwives working in the east end of London in the 1950s. Newly qualified midwife Jenny Lee is the latest arrival at Nonnatus House, a convent in one of the poorest areas of London. Jenny is welcomed by the nuns and other midwives there, including Trixie, a girl who is rarely bored, the more sensible Cynthia, and Chummy, who is from the upper class. Although Jenny thrives, she is far removed from the world she is used to. She immerses herself in her new world of births, deaths, intrigue and romance in a society she quickly learns to love.
