Alex Cross (Tyler Perry) works for the Detroit Police Department as a detective and forensic psychologist along with colleague Tommy Kane (Edward Burns) and recent graduate Monica Ashe (Rachel Nichols). Cross is dedicated to his professional role, but at the same time excited about his wife Maria (Carmen Ejogo) expecting their third child. When a wealthy woman is found dead and partially mutilated in the mansion, Police Chief Richard Brookwell (John C. McGinley) assigns Cross and his team to the case. Soon they are in a cat and mouse game with a psychotic person who has a dark past in torture and resentment against some of Motor City's richest citizens. Clues point to French financier Leon Mercier (Jean Reno) as the killer's ultimate victim. Cross is torn between justice and personal revenge in this dense action movie.
