My Week with Marilyn (DVD)

As the greatest female icon of the last century, Marilyn Monroe is surrounded by an almost mythical aura. Now she comes to life in My Week With Marilyn, a film based on true events.

In the early summer of 1956, American movie star Marilyn Monroe visits England for the first time in her life. She is there to spend her honeymoon with her husband, the acclaimed playwright Arthur Miller, and to star in The Prince and the Showgirl&mdashthe film that brings her together with legendary director and co-star Sir Laurence Olivier. But the set isn't only filled with big stars. Also present is 23-year-old Colin Clark, fresh out of university and eager to break into the film industry, working as an assistant on the production team.

We know the outcome of the film today, but behind the scenes, another story unfolds&mdashone that only comes to light 40 years later when Clark recounts his memories and publishes them in diary form. However, one week is missing from his account of the six-month shoot. Years later, Clark reveals in a follow-up memoir titled My Week With Marilyn that he spent that week with the world's biggest star, after her husband had returned to America. It is during this time that young Colin gets a rare glimpse of the woman behind the dazzling flashbulbs and the ever-crushing weight of public expectations.
