In this biographical film, Antonio Banderas plays the Italian fascist dictator Benito Mussolini. It describes Mussolini's path from small-town schoolteacher to leader of the Socialist Party, and how he developed fascism and ended up taking power in Italy during the interwar period. The political drama unfolds, while at the same time we also get a glimpse into Mussolini's private life, showing how his charisma and ambition led him to sacrifice everything for power.
