The four siblings – the beautiful Meg, the dramatic Jo, the sensitive Beth and the romantic Amy – must stand together and help each other and their mother when their father goes to war. The second oldest sister, Jo, is a bit of a tomboy and has an opinion on most things. A trait that does not quite fit with the traditional view of women that prevails, and Jo therefore often gets herself into less than fortunate situations.
