12-year-old Zain lives in the slums of Beirut. We meet him in the courtroom where he has filed a lawsuit against his parents. The accusation? That they gave birth to him into a purposeless and miserable world! With the trial as the setting, we get the story of Zain and the people and experiences that have shaped him. Here is a landmark film that is not afraid to get to the root of the matter and go straight to the meat of global inequality and the poor conditions of children in large parts of the world. At the same time, it is the story of an exceptional boy who gives us the belief that children can show the way to a better future if they only have a sliver of Zain's empathy and willpower.
