My Afternoons with Margueritte
Gérard Depardieu plays Germain, a big, square loaf of a working man who, after the day's work, seeks peace of mind by counting pigeons in the local park, where he greets the 95-year-old Margueritte, who pours wisdom and positivity from her life experience, which the more negatively minded Germain benefits from. Germain is not bookish to say the least, but his friendship with the well-read Margueritte opens up talents that surprise his friends in the village, who otherwise view him as a good-natured slacker. When external circumstances tear up their warm everyday framework, Germain is forced to take action to determine the direction of his life.
