MacArthur (1977)
This is the story of General Douglas MacArthur, the Allied commander during World War II and the UN commander during the Korean War. MacArthur begins his military career in 1942, and the remarkable career of this military legend ends abruptly when he is forced into retirement by President Truman in 1951. Joseph Sargent directed, and Gregory Peck plays the all-powerful lead role. A WORLD-CLASS WAR FILM.
Midway (1976)
During the Pacific War in 1942, the American and Japanese naval forces faced each other at the island of Midway, where a crucial battle was about to take place. Naval aircraft were used extensively for the first time and had a decisive impact on the outcome of the war.
The film, often called Midway in abbreviated form, is largely historically accurate. However, to add some color to the story, a fictional love story about an American pilot and a Hawaiian girl is added.
