Germany is already at war with Great Britain and France when they send troops against Denmark and Norway in April 1940. No one knows that the Germans are on their way – and certainly not that they will attack, as both countries have declared themselves neutral. On the night of April 9, Colonel Birger Eriksen receives a report at the Oscarsborg fortress in the Oslofjord that several foreign ships have been observed in the dense fog. The fortress is dilapidated and undermanned, as the colonel faces the biggest dilemma of his life. Should he attack – or not?
